Website Hackers

There are several ways in which websites can be hacked 2 of the main ways are if the user installs a plug-in (add-on) which has a file attached to it which includes malicious code or if the hacker physically hacks the website username & password etc.

The main reason why I write this blog is because we recently received a call from someone who had their website hacked and couldn’t access either the site itself or the admin side. The problem took 4 hours to fix as all the website files had to be downloaded, then checked to find out which files were supposed to be there and which files were malicious and then once the file/s had been found had to be removed from the website and finally had to check to see if any of the content had been changed or if any of the files had been manipulated.
Main ways in which this can affect websites:
If a website has a payment system installed the hacker may gain access to the account details and change the destination of the payment. Also the hacker could install spyware so as they can find out every persons account details that use the payment system. They could also manipulate the content of web pages and any of the files which are used to run the website.
So to ensure that your website stays secure please take every precautionary measure such as ensuring any files, plug-ins or add-ons are from trusted sources as if you do get hacked then you could lose a lot of time and money.
